48 HOUR FILM AUSTIN - FILM DE FEMME PROJECT October 21-23, 2022

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie - write, shoot, and edit - in just 48 hours. On Friday night, teams draw a genre from a hat. They are then given a character, prop and line to include in their films. On Sunday night, in a wild dash to the drop off event, the film is turned in - and teams celebrate. The film is then screened at a local theater in front of an audience of filmmakers, friends and families.
This month, the goal is to make a Film de Femme short film in only 48 hours!
For years, Hollywood has made movies from the man's perspective. The Austin Film de Femme 48 offers a unique challenge. Create strong female roles in film. Incorporate the Female Gaze in your work. Over the weekend of October 21st, create a Film de Femme short film, then see it on the BIG SCREEN! Created by the 48HFP, a Film de Femme is a film featuring one or more complex female characters in a significant, if not leading, role. It’s an opportunity to highlight historically excluded or underrepresented stories and journeys.
